Haha oh my goodness gracious, we had the most interesting service project this past week. On Thursday morning, the Elders received a call from a lady who contacted the missionary hotline saying she needed help asap with moving out cause she was getting evicted. She lives out of the zone, but she couldn't get a hold of the missionaries in her area so it went to our elders next. She's a non member, but she has a member friend that told her to call the missionaries. So 8 of us missionaries, 4 Elders and 4 sisters ended up going to her place first thing in the morning to help her pack and move out. Since it was such late notice, no one could get a moving truck, so we only had 2 members who could provide their trucks. We stuffed everything in these two trucks and had to take several trips, first to take some boxes to a storage unit and then take everything else to her new apartment. Us sisters followed one of the members on the way to the new apartment, and the pictures below depict the crazy travel we had. Sadly, the mattress and one of the cabinets ended up falling out in the middle of the road, and so we had to drive back and block off one lane to pick everything up. It was a mess haha, but hey tender mercy! Nothing broke! ;) But yeah that service project ended up taking half of our day so we had to reschedule weekly planning. And when you're moving stuff in and out, in the middle of the day, in 100 degree weather with the humidity, it can wear you out for DAYS. The weekend was rough to stay awake haha :)
Also, I went on exchanges with Sister Black on Friday! Grandfather, you will be happy to hear this... Sister Black can YODEL! It was great haha :) We had a lesson with one of their investigators over the phone since he lives at the edge of their area. He knows he needs to get baptized, but he feels that he needs to finish the Book of Mormon and learn all he can about the church before he gets baptized. We read the talk "You Know Enough" with him and I think we invited him 10 times to set a date. And he said no each time! I thought back on that experience, trying to picture myself if I was to join the church at this time. Of course, it can seem foreign and scary, but really this gospel is so simple. It just makes sense! And how comforting that we don't have to know everything now. Many times in the scriptures does it mention that the Lord will give us "line upon line". Heavenly Father will not reveal everything to us in one moment, but rather He gives us the wonderful gift of agency, where we can choose what to do with the knowledge we receive. I'm sure at times we all wish we could just know everything, to know how our whole life is laid out and to already know the decisions we'll make. But it's even more exciting and fulfilling when we put our trust in God and His plan for us! I know God has a perfect plan for His children, and as we put our trust in Him and follow the Spirit, He can make the impossible possible :)
