Well happy new year everyone!
Since missionaries have a curfew, we didn't really get to celebrate like everyone else :) but it was exciting to wake up to a new year! Except for the fact that it's 26 degrees outside today. Super cold, but the roads are empty cause no one wants to travel outside, so I guess that's good! :)
Since some of our investigators and potentials are still gone for the holidays, we decided to try contacting some less actives this week. And we were able to meet with a few! Texans are seriously so nice, I was a little worried to contact less actives, thinking that they wouldn't want to see us missionaries. But they let us right in and we had a lot of good visits with them :)
Carlton's lesson was awesome this week! The night before his lesson, he texted us and said "can I ask a question?" So we were like yes go for it! And he responded "I heard that you can have more than one wife, is that true?" Haha so we told him no but that we would explain more in our lesson. So that was pretty interesting :) But the lesson was so good, we taught about the Plan of Salvation and he had a lot of great questions throughout the lesson. He kept telling us that he was so excited to go tell all of his friends about what he learned! Seriously so cool, I love teaching about our Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness!
We were SO CLOSE to setting Indira on a baptism date this week! We felt impressed to teach her about the Atonement this week based off of a personal experience she shared with us last time. The Spirit was so strong in our lesson and we could just see the light in her eyes as we were teaching her. We extended to her the baptismal invitation, and one of the biggest rules in missionary work is that you DO NOT talk until the investigator answers that important question. It is the most crucial time where the investigator is listening to the Spirit, and especially for Indira we know that making the decision is hard because of all of the temptations back home in Colombia. Sadly though, one of our members spoke up right before she was going to answer. We were like NO!!! So yeah, we were pretty bummed out after that lesson, but we know that this is the Lord's work. We feel that Indira is totally ready to join this gospel, and we know that all things will work out in His timing.
